The Feel of the Place

Why People Love Living in Emigration Canyon

This is the canyon the Donner-Reed Party crossed in 1846 and Brigham Young's pioneers followed into the valley in 1847; This Is the Place Heritage Park and Hogle Zoo sit at its mouth.

It's a cyclist's classic: the road climb to Little Mountain Summit starts at the zoo, and the Bonneville Shoreline Trail runs from the canyon toward Dry Creek. Ruth's Diner, in a 1930 trolley car, has been a canyon landmark for decades.

Homes range from cabins to estate homes on acre-plus lots, many on private wells and septic, yet downtown and the University of Utah are minutes away. Emigration Canyon became a city in 2024.
